Maxwell D - Gone Away (Jamie XX RMX) (2010/11?)

Go here for a really interesting interview by Blackdown with UK Garage/Grime/Funky legend Maxwell D. They talk about issues of domestic violence and its connection to gangland culture along with Maxwell D’s own musical history and current direction. They also talk a bit about ‘Gone Away’, a Mavado/Gyptian-like song which Jamie XX has been playing (presumably in this remixed form). Thanks to this the record company are now looking to push it as a hit, although probably with a different, more commercial mix. I must admit I’ve rather ignored Jamie XX having heard a few (very hyped) bits that underwhelmed me, but this and his remix of Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’ have definitely encouraged me to reassess my opinion of him.
